Back in October last year 3 Pistes organiser Alan joined a group of old school pals for a sponsored bike ride from Glasgow to Rowardennan, followed by a hike up Ben Lomond raising money For Pete’s Sake. Many of them hadn’t been on a bike in years, thankfully they caught the cycling bug and six of them will be riding the 102mile 3 Pistes Cycle Sportive.
Back in October the sun was shining and it was a glorious day, but for many of us it was a day filled with physical pain. Half hadn’t pedalled a bike for years, half hadn’t climbed a Munro in longer. At the end most of us needed new legs.
The purpose of the cycle and climb was to raise funds towards the £100,000 needed for Peter McLachlan to receive specialist cancer treatment in New York. Over £60,000 has been raised so far. You can read more about Peter’s treatment in this Daily Record article.
Look out for the boys in their distinctive yellow tops and give them a cheer as they pass you… or more likely you pass them 😉
Better still, get rid of any loose change you have and stick it in their back pockets. The extra weight will make it harder for them to get up the hills, but more fun going down.

It’s an Irish site because although Pete grew up with us in East Kilbride he now lives in Galway.
